“Ethical Mental Health Interpreting-An Interactive Workshop” 

                      Saturday, May 19th, 2012  -  Registration 8:30 am  -  Workshop 9am-noon  

AND    

Thursday, June 14th, 2012  -  Registration 3:30 pm  -  Workshop 4:00pm-7:00pm                      

This workshop will look at the ethics involved in effective mental health interpreting.  From scheduling through post-session, interpreters will be challenged to look at potential ethical dilemmas, use the Demand-Control schema to address them, and employ best practices in mental health work throughout.

Interpreters will:

  • Identify key expectations of the Department for interpreters working in Community Mental Health Centers and state facilities.
  • Will Practice processing ethical dilemmas using elements of the Demand-Control schema.
  • Will identify areas fro future professional development and growth in the area of mental health interpreting.

(Minimum of ten (10) participants must be pre-registered or workshop will be cancelled)

This course offers 3 hours of “Ethical” Professional Development CEUs
